Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt are using lithium-ion batteries, that can power the cars without gasoline and they can be recharged by just plugging in. Automakers are showing increased interest in the making of green cars. The following are the new green cars to be launched in 2011.

Chevrolet Volt:
It is a four seat hatch back from Chevrolet, priced at $40,280. It can run on electric power alone for 25 to 50 miles. It comes with 8-year or 100,000 mile battery warranty and it is a plug in battery electric car.
Honda CR-Z:
It is a two seat hybrid hatchback with sporty overtones. It has a EPA gas mileage of mid to high 30’s. It has features like six airbags, 16 inch alloy wheels standard, selectable drive train modes, etc. Its price is in between $19,200 – $20,760.
Lexus CT 200h:
It is a four door hatch back, EPA mileage is in low 40s and it is available in pre collision system.
Hyundai Sonata Hybrid:
Sonata Hybrid comes with 2.4-liter gasoline engine, electric motor and lithium polymer battery, six speed automatic transmission and an EPA estimated high-30s gas mileage.
Nissan Leaf:
It is a pure battery electric car, five seat compact hatchback, giving 100 mile range with 90 mph being the top speed and its price is in between $32,780 – $33,720.
Volkswagen:
Volkswagen has two hybrid models Jetta TDI and Touareg TDI, redesigned for 2011. The Jetta TDI has 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder engine, manual or dual clutch automatic transmission and is priced between $22,995 – $24,730.
