Some decisions of taken by the legislations are opposed by some people because of various reasons. Recently in South African environmentalists are not happy with the decisions of the legislations regarding the decisions of selling ivory to Japan and China. South Africa is planning to sell ivory to the countries like Japan and China. They feel that it causes some damage or the other to the environment of the country.

In there meeting with press, South Africa said that it is planning to sell just over 51 tons of ivory to China and Japan under a special exemption to the international ban on trade. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species ruled last year that Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe would be able to make a one-off sale of 108 tons of government stocks.

Some environmentalists and African countries with dwindling elephant populations fear that it might encourage smuggling and poaching. South African wildlife experts visited the two nations in September and said they are satisfied that both countries met the rigorous conditions set by the convention and should not re export ivory to supply the black market.
