Software testing is the process conducted to test the quality of the service or product. The information about this quality is provided to the stake holders. Software testing also helps the business to appreciate and understand the risks of software implementation. Software testing is also defined as the process of validating and verifying a software program or application. A software testing system meets the business and technical requirements, works as expected and can be implemented with same characteristics.

Software testing depending on the methods used to test, can be implemented at any time in the process of development and the methodology of the test is controlled by the software development methodology. Most of the test execution takes place after all the requirements have been defined and after the process of coding has been completed in more traditional models.

Scope Of The Software Testing:
Major purpose of software testing is to discover and correct the software failures. Testing can’t know that a product functions properly under all conditions but it can only recognize that product does not function properly under specific conditions. Scope of the software testing includes examination of code as well as execution of that code in various environments and conditions and also examines the functions of the code. Software testing is so important in the present day organizations because some organization have separate testing team besides having development team. Information derived from the testing team is used to correct the process by which software is developed.
