According to a data released by TriNet Human Capital Index (HCI) in September 2010, the hiring increased by 0.79% and the layoffs decreased by 42.4% in the category of Small innovative technology and services companies. From last year to this year the hiring decreased by 19%, while the layoffs slowed down, indicating SMBs are focussing on stability and productivity improvement.
The TriNet Hiring Index monthly reading reached 81 with an increase of 1 point. The values below 100(for base month September 2009) indicate slow hiring rate. The hiring rate for professional and business sector was below the points of base month (September 2009), from November 2009 to August 2010 (lowest). Then it again rebounded in September. The layoffs rate of high wage companies were below the professional and business sector, and were found to be steadily declining reaching all time low in September. The rate of layoffs in small companies were below the points of September 2009 and layoff rate of whole economy. The layoffs for the U.S professional and business services sector increased by 3.57%. the termination rate of employment decreased further by 42.4%.
